Protection from water leaks with your own hands
Country houses allow you to relax comfortably, feel at one with nature, and work, especially creatively, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. However, for example, in winter, many owners rarely come here. Meanwhile, any such house is a system of communications, including water pipes. Unfortunately, they tend to leak periodically. The greatest damage such leaks can inflict during a long absence of hosts. Therefore, various Autonomous systems are being developed to protect the house from leaks. Many of them are clearly not cheap, although they are reliable.
However, it is possible to manufacture and install such a system yourself, and not very expensive.
Types of similar systems
There are two technologies for room protection systems against unwanted water penetration. The most significant difference is the transmission of a signal from the sensor to the controller and devices that will respond to a leak.
Systems with a wired connection are simple and reliable, but often their installation disrupts the interior of the room, and when the service objects are remote from the controller, the signal of water penetration may be weak.
Wireless systems do not require the installation of a cable system, but you will need to install radio communication devices along with the sensors.
Controller
The brain of the entire system is the control unit that receives a signal from the leak sensor and then activates the actuator, which usually stops the water supply at a certain section of the water distribution. There are three main models of this kind:
the simplest relay-type modules are connected to one or two sensors, and there are complex Omron variants that can interact with a large number of devices;
programmable controllers using computers;
the simplest devices – on transistors, they can be assembled independently with certain skills.
When receiving an alarm signal from the sensors, the controller must perform the function of notifying the owner of the house about the incident via a mobile phone or computer network.
The sensors leak
These detectors are not very complex. When the electrodes get wet, the circuit closes, and the signal amplifier is triggered. Some sensors are equipped with sound and light signals.
Execution unit
They block the water supply when a leak is detected. For this purpose, either ball valves or special valves are used. Auxiliary devices are also provided:
radio communication module;
amplifiers of the sent signal;
auxiliary relay.
When an emergency situation is resolved, the water supply system should be returned to working condition quickly and easily.
Installation and Assembly process
If all the system components are compatible, installation will not be difficult. This should be taken into account when purchasing sensors and collector separately. It is better to exclude heterogeneity of components.
After installation of the home protection system against leaks, it is necessary to test it and only then finally put the equipment into operation.
