Smart home: how it will protect you from thieves

For many, summer is a holiday season. Meanwhile, this is the busiest period of the year for robbers. What can you do to avoid ruining your vacation by worrying that you will return to a robbed house?

Smart systems experts talk about the possibilities offered by home automation systems, which are used to deter or stop burglars entering a home.

Simulated presence

One of the most common functions of a smart home to ensure security from theft is to simulate the presence of owners in the house. People watching the house will feel that someone is really at home, because the blinds will go up in the morning, in the evening they will close, from time to time the curtains will move – as if someone has just passed by the window, in the evening the TV and lights will turn on, you will hear the radio and voices. Even at night, you can see a narrow strip of light leading from the bedroom to the bathroom.

Reaction to the doorbell

A big advantage of a smart home is the ability to remotely manage security. And if the thieves are brazen enough to just ring the doorbell or ask someone to do it, in this case you can answer the doorbell even while in the Maldives at the same time — the signal from the intercom will be sent to your mobile phone. You can even see people standing in front of the door and record the conversation.

In addition, cameras in the house provide comfort and a sense of security. At any time, you can enable remote viewing and monitor the house and surrounding area.

It’s enough to scare off criminals

Only in the movies it is shown that when entering someone else’s house, robbers relax and just calmly perform “work”. Various smart home components can perform this function:

motion sensors;
special sirens;
video surveillance cameras with feedback;
lighting automation systems.

If the criminals managed to get into the house, the smart home can recognize whether there are strangers in the house and react accordingly.

Protection that costs nothing

Home security is in some ways a side effect of smart systems, and this protection costs the owners nothing. All you need to do is program the home protection mode in your existing system. These include motion sensors, which are usually used to adjust lighting or turn off lights. On public holidays, you can use them to protect your home. As soon as movement is detected in the room, the cameras will turn on and start recording or the alarm will start. For safety reasons, air conditioners are also used, which detect even very short changes in temperature and humidity after opening a door or window.

A smart home can be equipped with a host of security tools. And this is another advantage of the security system: it is unpredictable, has no intermediate system, and there is no way to know how it works.
