Smart Home – what is it and how to install it

Smart home systems are becoming increasingly popular. Until recently, the smart home was perceived as an affordable luxury for the elite, today the interest has clearly increased. We can expect that in the coming years they will become the standard in newly built houses and apartments.

Smart home as a single system of comfort, management and security

Smart home is closed in one system and one app! Thanks to this, you can integrate installations located in your home or apartment, as well as electronics and household appliances. Home automation will do a lot of things for you, as well as allow you to customize the operation of all mechanisms in accordance with your needs and specific situations. Smart home systems allow you to use wall buttons, a smartphone, tablet or laptop to control, among other things:

lighting,
heating,
small appliances,
shutters,
windows,
surveillance cameras,
ventilation,
garden watering,
many other devices.

Thanks to the smart home, we can reduce the commission to some extent. The system allows very precise and, most importantly, automatic control of the room temperature, control of mechanical ventilation, close and open windows to maximize the use of solar thermal energy and avoid energy loss. It can also ensure that unnecessary lighting and devices are turned off during our absence.

How much will you save by doing this?

It depends on the settings of our installation. Experts suggest that it is possible to reduce the cost of electricity and heating by 10-20%.

Smart Home: how to install and configure it?

Scripts are the” intelligence ” of automation. In a simple wireless system, in principle, only a few sensors and actuators (for example, for controlling the boiler, doors, windows and shutters) are enough to develop simple scenarios and remotely control them-via a web browser or a smartphone application. After programming this sequence, one button triggers the entire sequence of events – the boiler reduces the gorenje level so that the temperature in the house drops to 18°C, while the window coverings are lowered, reducing heat loss.

The more devices connected to the smart installation, the more “actions” can be programmed – including turning the light on and off, adjusting its intensity or color, and running home media.

Creating events – in modern systems, this is a simple, intuitive task – all you need is a computer or tablet connected to the Internet. Using the app for this purpose is easier than most of the programs we use for work or entertainment. The number of scenarios depends primarily on the needs and imagination of users.

How they will be configured is up to you. Smart home systems offer countless options for functionality. Pre-programmed scripts will trigger events while you are working or devoting yourself to your activities. All you have to do is press a few buttons. A smart home will adapt to your needs and requirements.

You don’t even need to get up from the couch!
