What is a smart home all about Smart Home technologies

A smart home is a system of household appliances and other devices that perform operations and help in everyday life based on automated management. In today’s world, home automation is a flexible set of systems. A person independently chooses the functionality based on their wishes. So, each owner of such housing can choose devices to install and configure, based on personal needs.

Little history

The concept of a “smart” home seems modern, and maybe even futuristic. However, the history of its appearance dates back to the middle of the 20th century. For the first time about such houses began to chatter adherents of fiction, when computer technology began to develop. Of course, the lack of Internet and software did not allow us to move the idea of a “smart” home from the dead point, but there were attempts to create large and unsightly modules connected to the network.

“Smart” homes now

The Smart Home concept works on the principle of executing commands received by the Central controller. The control can be carried out both by the person himself and by integrated sensors. If a person asks the system to make tea, start the air conditioner, or adjust the heating to the desired value – the Central processor will process the request and send it to the desired device. Depending on your wishes, you can communicate with the controller using your voice, PU, or smartphone.

If sensors are used, the presence of a person is excluded. The computer can send commands in the configured time periods that the host will set in advance. Or it will make its own decisions based on sensor readings. For example, if there is a change in the temperature and humidity control system, the computer will automatically adjust the indicators in connection with the set optimal indicators.

What does the SmartHome system consist of?
Sensors that acquire status information from the environment.
A Central Committee that accepts and draws conclusions based on incoming data.
Network devices that are designed to perform application tasks.

Each element can be communicated over a wired network or wireless connection. In the first case, you can think of archaism, but such a system is less likely to fail. Many manufacturers offer cable-based systems, as this is more reliable.

Radio communication is more convenient and has more features. But establishing such connections has its own difficulties. Often manufacturers combine two types of communication at once, which gives convenience and security to users.

Smart home systems are:

centralized;
non-centralized.

Centralized systems work on each device in the house through a single common module, which allows you to build large-scale automated control systems.

The latter are collections of certain Autonomous circuits, and sometimes single devices. This method allows you to achieve a greater degree of protection.
